Today we would like to share a case about the issue that the ONT configuration status fails on Huawei OLT. Please see more information shown below.

Product model: SmartAX MA5608T.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

After an ONT is added to the MA5608T, a user runs the display ont info command to query the ONT status. The command output shows that the config state is failed.

 ISSUE ANALYSIS

1. Run the display ont failed-configuration command to check the ONT configuration restoration failure information.

2. Query the ONT line configuration.

3. Confirm that the ONT supports a maximum of 8 T-CONTs.

 OLT judgment logic: if the number of T-CONTs reported by the ONT is greater than or equal to the number of T-CONTs reported by the ONT, the OLT determines that the number exceeds the ONT capability set.

ROOT CAUSE

The number of configured T-CONTs exceeds the maximum capability of the ONT.

SOLUTION DESCRIPTION

 Change the T-CONT range from 0 to 7 and bind the T-CONT to the ONT again. The configuration status is restored.
