Bulk Inquiry
A "Rogue ONU" is an Optical Network Unit that transmits optical signals outside of its allocated timeslots, causing interference and service interruption for other users on the same PON port. This guide details how to configure detection parameters, enable automatic isolation, and manually manage ONU optical transceivers on the ZXA10 C3XX platform.
1. Enabling Rogue ONU Detection (Card/Slot Level)
To detect rogue ONUs, you must first enable the function on the specific service card (slot). You can also configure the system to automatically locate and shut down the problematic ONU.
Command Mode: PON Global Configuration Mode
Command:
rogue-onu-detect <number1> { disable | enable locate { disable | enable auto-shutdown <name1> }}
Parameters:
number1: The slot number of the card (Range: 1–19)
enable/disable: Enables or disables the detection function
name1: Enables the automatic disabling of the detected rogue ONU
Example:
To enable the detection function on slot 5:
ZXAN(config-pon)#rogue-onu-detect 5 enable locate disable
2. Turns on or off the optical module light of an ONU
Command Mode: PON Global Configuration Mode
Command:
onu-transceiver {off [duration number1 ] |on } interface1
Parameters:
Example:
Turn off the optical module light of an ONU
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-transceiver off
Turn on the optical module light of an ONU
ZXAN(config-pon)#onu-transceiver on
3. Enabling Detection on specific OLT Interfaces
You can enable or disable detection PON-port-level rogue ONU detection.
Command Mode: PON Global Configuration Mode
Command:
rogue-onu-detect olt interface1 locate {disable |enable auto-shutdown {enable |disable } }
Parameters:
interface1: The PON OLT interface (format: epon-olt_shelf/slot/port or gpon-olt_shelf/slot/port)
Example:
ZXAN(config-pon)#rogue-onu-detect olt gpon-olt_1/2/1 locate enable auto-shutdown enable
4. Configuring Detection Parameters
You can fine-tune detection parameters, such as detect period, ber-scan interval, and onu percent thresthold
Command Mode: PON Global Configuration Mode
Command:
rogue-onu-detect-param number1 {[detect-period number2 ] [power-threshold upper name1 lower name2 ] [ber-scan interval number3 times number4 threshold number5 ] [enable-onu-immediately name3 ] [onu-percent-thresthold number6 ] }
Parameters:
Example:
ZXAN(config-pon)#rogue-onu-detect-param 3 detect-period 70 power-threshold upper -7 lower -29 error-code-scan interval 20 times 15 threshold 80 enable-onu-immediately enable onu-percent-thresthold 80
5. Sets the rogue ONU state
Command Mode: GPON ONU interface mode and EPON ONU interface mode
Command:
rogue-onu-state name1 [duration {forever |number1 } ]
Parameters:
Example:
ZXAN(config)#interface gpon-onu_1/3/1:1
ZXAN(config-if)#rogue-onu-state shutdown
6. Queries the detection configuration.
Command Mode: All modes except user mode
Command:
show pon rogue-onu-detect [number1]
Parameters:
number1: Slot number (range: 2–6, 9–14)
Example:
ZXAN#show pon rogue-onu-detect 3
Card Detect state Locate state Auto shutdown
...................................................
1/3 disable N/A N/A
ZXAN#
7.View Detected Rogue ONU Information
To display information regarding detected rogue ONUs on a specific interface:
Command Mode: All modes except user mode
Command:
show pon rogue-onu-info interface1
Parameters:
interface1: PON OLT interface, format: epon-olt_shelf/slot/olt or gpon-olt_shelf/slot/olt
Example:
ZXAN(config-if)#show pon rogue-onu-info gpon-olt_1/3/1
Rogue ONUs can severely impact network performance by interfering with legitimate data transmission. The ZXA10 C3XX offers a comprehensive set of features to detect, locate, and automatically isolate these devices to protect service quality.
